MacBook Pro + MacBook Air + Mac Mini (early 2009), Mac OS X (10.5.8)
Dear Community Members,
I want to share my positive experience of connecting the Logitech Professional Presenter R800 to Mac OS X 10.5.8. Target application I describe here is Microsoft PowerPoint 2008. 1) Connect USB dongle to a Mac. 2) Ignore 'Keyboard Setup Assistant' asking you to hold some buttons on the newly connected 'keyboard' by pushing red cross button in the upper right corner. 3) Now your device is connected and the system likely shouldn't ask you for any keyboard setup in the future. 4) All buttons of the presenter work properly with Microsoft PowerPoint 2008, except one - 'Launch slide show'. To fix this go to *System Preferences -> Keyboard & Mouse -> Keyboard Shortcuts tab -> + button*. Then specify the following: Application: *'Microsoft PowerPoint'* Menu Title: *'Slide Show'* Keyboard Shortcut: 'F5' ![]()
Here we discuss three presentation remote options that will assist you in changing slides during your next presentation.
Option 1: Keynote Remote on the iPod Touch (Mac Only)
Keynote is the presentation software from Apple. It has the great feature of utilizing a iPhone/iPod Touch app called “Keynote Remote” to control the slide presentation wirelessly. It has the following features:

To utilize the remote you must have your presentation Mac on the same WiFi network as your iOS device. In some cases, the wireless network in your area may not be available or unreliable. Here are instructions for how to set up your own temporary wireless network between you Mac and iOS device (this will not provide live internet access…just a connection between the devices):
The Logitech Spotlight Presentation Remote gives you a new level of control over your presentations. Just install the Logitech Presentation app (available from Logitech) and then use the remote to manage your time, set vibration alerts, toggle pointer mode and customise actions within a user-friendly interface. The excellent Logitech Cordless Presenter is a great wireless remote for presentations. In addition to advancing slides and controlling volume, the remote also has two buttons that are meant to start/stop the presentation and blank the screen. However, whilst these work with PowerPoint, they will not work with Keynote by default.

The Harmony Bridge app requires macOS 10.13 (High Sierra) or later which runs on most macs built since 2012. To control HomeKit Television accessories you need a device running iOS 12.2 or later. Please send feedback if you have any questions. Logitech, the Logitech logo, and other Logitech marks are registered in Switzerland and other countries.
On your iPhone/iPod Touch…
Switch back to your Mac…
Click on Link next to the device and enter the 4-digit passcode
On your iPhone/iPod…
Select Done then select Play Slideshow
I would suggest have an iPod Touch just for use as a remote rather than utilizing your iPhone. Here’s why:
Option 2: Logitech Presenter
Another quality presentation control option is the Logitech Professional Presenter R800 with Green Laser Pointer
It has the following features:
It says that system requirements are for Windows only…but the remote acts like a wireless USB keyboard and so it can be made to work great on the Mac. On Mac OS all buttons work fine on Microsoft Powerpoint and Keynote except the Play Slideshow button (Start button) on Keynote. Here’s how to get the Start button to work in Keynote by remapping the default Play Slideshow keyboard shortcut:
Now all the buttons of Logitech Professional Presenter R800 or R400 will work perfectly. https://banktree793.weebly.com/deleting-apps-from-mac-computer.html.

Option 3: Keyspan by Tripp Lite Remote
Similar to the Logitech and also with good reviews is the Keyspan by Tripp Lite PR-PRO3 Presentation Remote. There is also the PR-PRO4 model with gyro mouse pointer but it has a shorter range. They work well with Keynote on the Mac as well. Comments are closed.
